Gosport Dental Clinic is well equipped and eager to work with special needs patients. Our office is located in an old house that has wide hallways and doorways that make even the largest electrical wheelchair able to be maneuvered. Dr. LaMere-Heck is very patient, understanding, and compassionate towards all of her patients and is willing to go the extra mile to provide the best care possible to our patients with special needs.
Patients with either physical or mental disabilities have always been welcome at the Gosport Dental Clinic. The layout of our building lends itself to easy wheelchair access with wider hallways and doorways making maneuverability easier for patients in a whelchair as well as patients dependent on a walker.
Unlike many of the newly designed offices, the operatories (working rooms) are not uniform in size. We also have differently designed and sized chairs which we are able to use according to the physical needs of the patient.
The dentist office is equipped with 6 dental chairs. None of these chairs are identical, just as people are not identical. We have 2 extra large rooms where we usually treat our special needs patients. One room is large enough that the largest commonly used wheelchair can roll next to the chair and the patient can be transferred by just sliding the patient from the wheelchair, with the arm in the down position, into the chair which has no arms.
Dr. Heck is even willing to work on patients while still in the wheelchair, even if she has to stand on a stool or get in uncomfortable positions in order to better serve our patients.
